HOW TO GET THERE

Being Galapagos part of Ecuador, the ideal is to get to Quito or Guayaquil, these are the only two international airports we have.
The advantages to get to Quito are for example if you want to see the capital city of course,  beautiful historical site, or visiting our rainforest and or great sites like the cloud forest, or the andean lakes etc.
Originaly I would have said, if just going to Galapagos, flying to Guayaquil will be better, then the airport there is closer to the city, and also direct flight to Galapagos, but  nowadays I think the largest city of Ecuador, Guayaquil has some sightseeings to offer as well, such as the Waterfront, incredible for birdwatchers, Las Penas,  a little piece of the old times,  the  Historical Center, and  the newly protected Island Santay, so worth having at least one day here.
Galápagos has two airports on two different Islands, Baltra and San Cristobal, I have met visitors who have organized their own trip, who have landed on the wrong airport, be carefull about it,  make sure to take the correct flight.
Right now many organized trips are offered; some starting from San Cristobal Island and or Baltra, nothing to worry then everything is all set for you.
