Cold Season, Hot Season?

Ocean Currents around the Islands
When you want to go somewhere, one of the first questions is:
How is the weather? what should I bring, when is the best time.

First of all if you check out both pictures, is easy to notice, that there are basically there mayor ocean currents.

Around June, the preavailing winds from the south arrive to Galápagos bringing with it cold water, the Humboldt current, and that is the time when obviously water begins to get cold, on the Equator.

How cold? Well, between 17 and 23 Celsious, I remember that everyone who hears this from me saying "oh that´s nothing, where I live is colder" ja, bring something, just to be on the safe side.
That´s the time when wildlife that depends on cold water, will have food enourhg  to survive.
Sea lions, boobies, petrels will be active as a general ; also think about some rough seas, mainly if your boat or ship goes directly into the current, south east, like for example from Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz Islands to Española; snorkelling in general is great, perhaps murky sometimes, but great

Around December the south east cold water remians further south and , hot water enters Galápagos, the Niño Current, so it is hot, specially february march, around 27, 28 celsious water temperature, and almost no wind,, calm seas, like a cup of tea, snorkelling can be done for easy one a half hour, better early walks.

My favorite Current, Cromwell, if you to the west, youu feel it is very cold, therefore, penguins, whales, turtles, big marine iguanas. etc

People always ask, when is the best time; I say, I do not know, what do you want, lots of snorkelling, no sea sickness, marine wildlife.
Less people, well low season, this most of the time during may, june, or early december and september.
May/June weather is mild and a bit of different climates, early December the same, and september can be very cold, by ecuadorian standards, windy, good for sailing (if choosing a sailboat).
But there is never a real last word on weather, I prefer to say " there are years that are predominantly cold and of course september , october the coldest ones, and obviously the hotest are not too bad.
The same rule can be aplied to the hot years, being february, march the hottest months usually very, very hot.
